Introduction
Lorica Learning Disabilities

For the past four years, through a management support contract between the Bevern Trust and Lorica, we have been working closely with Dr Peter Frost at Bevern View, a home for young adults with learning disabilities.

The development of Lorica Learning Disabilities is a joint venture and has been needs led responding to calls from parents, carers and Social Services to expand the work of Bevern View to meet the needs of a wider group of people. Bevern View is very much a local project for local people and its objects limit its ability to work at a regional or national level. It is therefore out of this need that Lorica has taken on the challenge of expanding this work in the counties of East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey.

The aim of Lorica Learning Disabilities is to provide a range of quality projects and services to people challenged by learning disabilities to enable them to live their lives to the full from childhood through adult life.

In conjunction with the Department of Health, Lorica Learning Disabilities has established a community interest company called MiLife to provide life-changing care and support to those with profound or multiple learning disabilities and their families in the following regions:
  East Sussex
  West Sussex
  Surrey

Lorica Animo
Functioning as an outreach service, MiLife supports Lorica Learning Disabilities by providing a Domiciliary care and support service in East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey, in addition to the provision of support to clients in their own home. This service is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspectorate (CSCI).
